Ko wai mātou?

Te Ataarangi ki Waiariki is the rohe representative of Te Ataarangi Movement which has played a major role in the revitalisation of Te Reo Maori in Aotearoa. Te Ataarangi has been operating in the Waiariki region for 40 years, commencing in 1985 as a Kaiako training program.

The Waiariki region has provided a 'hakari' of Reo Maori courses for 39 of those years. This 'hakari' consists of various courses, ranging from full-time day classes, (Mon - Fri, 9am-3pm), to night classes (3 hrs/night), One-Hour classes, wananga and online classes. These courses have been delivered under the umbrella of different entities for eg, Whare Wananga, Kura/Kohanga, Businesses, Whanau, Hapu/Iwi and many more. Regardless of the entity, Te Ataarangi has always remained paramount within the Course.

Te Reo Māori is a treasure that we cherish, and our ultimate dream is to see it embraced by all in the next years. While we hope our services will no longer be necessary in 40 years time, we remain committed to leading the revitalisation efforts of Te Reo Māori should the need persist. Together, we strive to ensure that this beautiful language continues to thrive for generations come
